Leaping into Creativity
6-week online course with Sharon WachslerDo you sometimes feel blocked -- unable to access your liveliest, most creative voice? Do you have poems, stories, or essays that are languishing because you don't know where to take them? Do you want to learn skills that will carry you past the "stuck place" in your writing?
Whether you are a beginning writer or an experienced wordsmith, this six-week course will help you dive into your richest, deepest, most connected writing -- with greater confidence. You'll learn exercises for getting past the "critic" or "editor" voice that shuts you down. You'll practice tapping into your creative force using techniques that are applicable to all genres -- fiction, essay, poetry, theater, memoir.
DANCING WITH THE MUSE is taught in a supportive, gentle, humorous, and encouraging manner that fosters assurance and experimentation. Weekly lectures, assignments, and discussions will lead students step-by-step in cutting through resistance to uncover the beating heart of their thoughts.
Location
The course operates from the DANCING WITH THE MUSE Web site and from a Yahoo! groups account created for the class. All students are automatically subscribed to the Yahoo! listserv once enrolled (and unsubscribed when the course ends). Lectures and supporting materials, such as the suggested reading list and the page of inspirational quotes , may be accessed via the Web site. Posting of assignments and discussions takes place via the Yahoo! e-mail listserv. The setup is very flexible so that class members can read lectures and post e-mails at any time during the week.
